We are delighted to announce a new recording of chamber music for piano and strings - all new to disc - by the English composer Thomas Pitfield. This recording for the Divine Art label includes Pitfield's two piano trios and two works for 'cello and piano; the Sonata in D minor and the Sonatina as well as the short Epigraph, again for piano trio. Harvey, Sarah and Heather recorded the music at the RNCM in Manchester and it was funded by the Pitfield Trust.
The music is attractive, accessible and the composer's affinity with the music of John Ireland , E. J. Moeran and others gives it its unmistakeably English character. These world premiere recordings are a welcome addition to Divine Art's extensive catalogue and come highly recommended.
